Business Career Development Manager - Experience Design & Management
The Business Career Center in the Marriott School of Business is seeking a career development professional to support students in the Experience Design and Management (ExDM) program. This position provides indivdualized career coaching and professional development support, builds relationships with employers and alumni, and coordinates recruiting and placement actvities for ExDM students. This role works closely with students, faculty, recruiters, alumni, and Business Career Center leadership to help students prepare for and secure meaningful internship and full-time employment opportunities.
What you'll do in this position:
  • Advise and mentor 350+ ExDM students in career exploration, professional development, internship searches, and full-time employment preparation.
  • Coach students in resume development, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing, networking, job search strategies, offer negotiation, and other career readiness skills.
  • Guide and assist ExDM faculty with the development and delivery of career readiness course content that prepares students for internships and professional employment.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with recruiters, employers, alumni, executives, and industry professionals to expand internship and full-time employment opportunities for ExDM students.
  • Partner with the Business Career Center employer engagement team to maintain existing employer relationships and identify opportunities to develop new recruiting partnerships.
  • Coordinate employer and student engagement activities, including career fairs, information sessions, company visits, career exploration trips, panels, advisory activities, and other career development events.
  • Represent and promote the ExDM program and its students to employers and industry professionals, helping organizations understand the skills and capabilities ExDM students bring to the workplace.
  • Track internship and full-time placement progress, maintain recruiting and employer information in Career Center systems, and provide regular placement updates and reporting to ExDM faculty.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, recruiters, and employers to coordinate recruiting activities, address placement needs, and support successful student employment outcomes.
  • Identify appropriate companies, geographic markets, and industry events for employer engagement and recruiting efforts, including planning and participating in corporate outreach and recruiting trips.

What qualifies you for this role:
Required
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor's degree (Experience Design, Marketing, Human Resources, Hospitality, Tourism, Business Management, or a related field) with 5 years of professional experience in experience design, marketing, human resources, hospitality, tourism, sports, management or business development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional experience within a corporate environment having direct responsibilities for managing a functional regional or business unit.
  • Experience with leading, developing, mentoring, evaluating, and hiring professionals.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in business or related field.
  • 10+ years professional experience in experience design, marketing, human resources, hospitality, tourism, sports, management, or business development.
