Location: Birmingham, AL

Client- Alabama Power

Contract- 3 years


Position Overview

The Technical Writer will serve as a key member of the Power Delivery Data Analytics team, focusing on internal communications and technical documentation. This role ensures that technical concepts, processes, and updates are clearly communicated across the organization, supporting both business and technical stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Documentation Development: Write, edit, and review technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge base content for internal software applications and analytics dashboards.

  • Content Management: Maintain and update existing articles and technical content in preparation for fix version releases, ensuring clarity and accuracy.

  • Presentation Support: Create engaging PowerPoint presentations and assist in developing video content that highlights new applications, features, and benefits for varied audiences.

  • User Feedback Integration: Gather and analyze user feedback to enhance documentation and overall communication effectiveness.

  • Internal Communications: Draft concise, engaging emails and newsletters to communicate project updates, system changes, and organizational announcements.

  • SharePoint Support: Assist in the development and maintenance of SharePoint sites to ensure accurate content and effective knowledge sharing.

  • Executive Summaries: Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable one-pagers and executive briefs for leadership.


Required Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in technical writing, especially end-user product documentation.

  • 1–3 years of experience in internal or corporate communications.

  • Superior understanding of language and grammar principles (APA, MLA).

  • Familiarity with data analytics, Power BI, and application development concepts.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and SharePoint.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and user experience design.

  • Experience with video editing tools, such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, or After Effects.
