User Experience Content Designer information

What is a user experience content designer?

A User Experience (UX) Content Designer is a professional who creates and organizes content within digital products to ensure users have a clear, intuitive, and enjoyable experience. They write and structure words, labels, and messages in apps, websites, and software to guide users and help them accomplish their goals easily. UX Content Designers often collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and developers to make sure that content aligns with user needs, business goals, and brand voice. Their work includes crafting microcopy, error messages, onboarding instructions, and navigation labels to improve overall usability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user experience content designer?

To thrive as a User Experience Content Designer, you need strong writing, editing, and UX design skills, often supported by a background in English, communications, or human-computer interaction. Familiarity with design tools like Figma, prototyping software, and content management systems is typically required. Excellent collaboration, empathy, and critical thinking help you understand user needs and work closely with designers and developers. These skills ensure the creation of clear, user-centered content that enhances usability and drives positive user experiences.

How does a user experience content designer typically collaborate with UX designers and developers during a project?

User Experience Content Designers work closely with UX designers to ensure that language and visual elements align for a cohesive user journey. They often participate in brainstorming sessions, provide input during wireframing, and develop content prototypes. Regular collaboration with developers ensures that the content is implemented accurately and remains adaptable to design changes. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for delivering intuitive and effective digital experiences.

Job description

Patterson isn't just a place to work, it's a partner that cares about your success. One of the distinguishing marks of our company is the talented people who embrace the people-first, always advancing, and results-driven culture. Professional growth abounds in this motivating environment. We value the diverse talents and experiences our employees bring to Patterson and believe that they build a stronger and successful organization.

The Senior UX Designer will collaborate on the end‑to‑end redesign of three major e‑commerce sites as the organization transitions to a new platform and CMS. This role requires strong strategic thinking, hands‑on design expertise, and the ability to envision and execute a cohesive, scalable design system across multiple digital properties. The ideal candidate excels at partnering with product, engineering, designers, researchers, and business stakeholders with minimal day‑to‑day direction.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead UX strategy and design for the redesign, re‑platforming and maintenance of three e‑commerce sites, ensuring consistency, scalability, and best‑in‑class user experience.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high‑fidelity designs that support the full product lifecycle—from concept through production.
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive multi‑site design system, including components, patterns, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to translate business goals and user insights into intuitive, conversion‑focused designs.
  • Advocate for UX principles and data‑informed decisions during planning, prioritization, and sprint activities.
  • Ensure accessibility, responsive design, and performance best practices are integrated into all deliverables.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and UX expertise without requiring daily oversight; proactively identify design opportunities, risks, and solutions.
  • Support streamlined implementation by partnering closely with development teams to ensure design fidelity and feasibility.
Job Qualifications
  • 5–8+ years of UX design experience, with significant background in e‑commerce, complex web applications, or multi‑site ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale redesigns or platform migrations.
  • Expertise in Figma and contemporary design/prototyping tools.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, usability heuristics, and responsive design.
  • Experience building or contributing to design systems and working within CMS‑driven environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence decisions across cross‑functional teams.
  • Independent, self‑directed working style with the ability to manage ambiguity in fast‑moving environments.
What's In It For You
  • Full Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits
  • an integrated Wellness Program
  • 401(k) Match
  • Retirement Savings Plan
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Holiday Pay & Floating Holidays
  • Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
  • Educational Assistance Program
  • Full Paid Parental and Adoption Leave
  • LifeWorks (Employee Assistance Program)
  • Patterson Perks Program

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range, based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.

$96,500.00 - $128,700.00
