Business Development Officer โ€“ SBA Lending

My clientโ€”a nationally ranked Top SBA lender (2023) headquartered in downtown Salt Lake Cityโ€”is hiring a Business Development Officer (BDO) to originate SBA 7(a), SBA 504, USDA B&I, equipment leasing, ABL, CRE, and construction loans nationwide.

The BDO owns the full sales cycle: prospecting, needs assessment, packaging and submitting complete loan files to underwriting, presenting credits to committee, closing, and ongoing relationship management. Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with Marketing and the Chief BDO to execute territory strategies while maintaining disciplined pipeline hygiene in Salesforce.

Key Responsibilities

Originate SBA and related commercial lending opportunities nationwide; achieve/exceed annual production goals.

Build a durable referral ecosystem (brokers, COIs, franchise networks, CPAs, attorneys, bankers).

Develop market penetration plans; run consistent outbound (calls, email, LinkedIn, events).

Qualify, structure, and package loans; submit complete applications and present to Credit Committee.

Manage risk through strong credit fundamentals (financials, cash flow, collateral, guarantors).

Coordinate approvals โ†’ commitments โ†’ funding with Operations; ensure a smooth borrower experience.

Maintain accurate activity, pipeline, and production reporting in Salesforce and bank origination systems.

Requirements

Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience.

5+ years sales experience in financial services with strong SBA production.

Documented $20MM+ annual SBA/CRE/ABL production for each of the past 3 years.

Deep knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 programs (eligibility, structure, underwriting, closing).

Solid credit skills: financial statement analysis, DSCR/cash flow, collateral, guaranty structure.

Proven hunter mentality; consistent new-business generation and B2B relationship management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Active referral network preferred; role is fully remote within the U.S. (no travel required).

Aggressive performance incentives (bonus up to 100%; top-tier OTE potential $400K+).
