Job description

Arts & Science is seeking a talented Department Administrator to join the Department of Anthropology. This individual will oversee departmental operations and staff and provide administrative support for the department. Provide input and recommendations to advise the Chairperson and executive committees on departmental policy and planning issues. Administer budgets, coordinate tenure review process, and oversee registration activities.


Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
5+ years relevant administrative experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience supervising departmental operations and staff and administering budgets.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education or non-profit environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to problem solve, interpret financial information, and interact with individuals at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Familiarity with accounting fundamentals, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Ability to support department in vision building and strategic planning.


In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $76,383.00 to USD $82,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
