Job description

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, located in Crofton, MD, seeks candidates for a Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation.
The Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation will be responsible to the Pastor for the development and implementation of a comprehensive evangelization plan for the parish and a program of faith formation for adults. Upholding the mission of the Church to evangelize and bring others to Christ, this position works collaboratively with the youth minister and director of family life in executing a comprehensive program of faith formation for the parish. Critical to the position is the ability to utilize and incorporate new media and communication methods and explore new approaches to Catholic Formation in order to form disciples who make disciples.
Essential Functions
  • Effectively establish an overall evangelization plan pursuant to the parish pastoral plan and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) plan for The New Evangelization: Faith-Worship-Witness.
  • In concert with the Pastor, Pastoral Staff, Pastoral Council and other committees, help shape, formulate and direct activities that fulfill the Parish's vision for lifelong growth in faith.
  • Implement ways to reach out to those active, inactive and the unchurched in our community including but not limited to:
    • The LGBTQ+ community
    • The Divorced & Remarried
    • The Grieving
    • Young Adult
  • Works with other parish ministers to promote cohesive, effective evangelization programming.
  • Plans and Implements a Lenten Parish Mission.
  • Forms a collaborative team with the youth minister and the director of family life.
  • Oversees and implements a formal process to welcome new parishioners.
  • Directs:
    • Order of Christian Initiation of Adult
    • Order of the Christian Initiation of Children
    • Preparation for Adult Confirmation
    • Adult Faith Formation Programs
    • Bible Studies
    • Adult Small Faith Formation Groups

Position Qualifications
  • Roman Catholic in sacramental union with the Church
  • Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education or Theology preferred but not required
  • OR National Credential in Youth Ministry
  • OR background in theology and educational methodologies
  • OR Willingness to work toward the educational qualifications for the job
  • Knowledge of diocesan guidelines and procedures
  • Proficiency in computer programs
  • Possess good written and oral communication and organizational skills
  • Possess working knowledge of social media for communicating with parents and families

RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Member of the Pastoral Staff
  • Directly accountable to the pastor
  • Reports to the Parish Council as requested
  • Staffs the Welcoming Committee
  • Staffs the Adult Spiritual Enrichment Committee
  • Collaborates with Archdiocesan Institute of Evangelization
  • Maintains a visible presence to the parish-at-large

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000, Annualized
