POSITION SUMMARY:
USBC is seeking a self-motivated individual who possesses effective communication and organizational skills for a technician position with our Equipment Specifications and Certifications team. The technician will conduct sample preparation, test, and determine compliance on products received from manufacturers who seek USBC approval for use during certified competition. Work schedule and priorities for specific tests or projects shall be established by the Sr. Director of Equipment Specifications. The technician will provide documentation and customer service assistance to the team in activities relating to product approval testing and research projects.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receive test samples from the warehouse and prepare products for testing.
  • Analyze, interpret, and evaluate test data and prepare technical reports using various software programs (e.g. Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, etc.)
  • Establish test and inspection techniques and/or procedures.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures for testing.
  • Interpret standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Interface with Equipment Specifications and Certifications Team regarding test requirements and results.
  • Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequenced to maximize efficiency.
  • Confers with engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.
  • Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.
  • Uses computer software and hardware to conduct tests on samples.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet testing schedules.
  • Use lean manufacturing principles to constantly work to improve test procedures while striving to reduce test time.
  • Examines samples for conformance to specifications.
  • Operate various testing machines and research equipment.
  • Assist Engineers with research projects to collect data, interpret results, and suggest improvements to move projects forward to completion.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer proficiency and literacy required.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications, email, and a general understanding of computer programs.
  • Statistical analysis is a strong plus.
  • Possesses sound judgement and critical thinking; problem-solver.
  • Detail-oriented and methodical approach to completing tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Bowling knowledge a plus.

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Must pass the RVP program and maintain a "Green Light" status.
  • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program is a condition of employment and continued employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to work extended periods of time on computer required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and unpack (up to 65 lbs.) boxes.
