Software QA Engineer

Quality Assurance | Web and Mobile Applications

Position Overview

Initech Global is seeking a meticulous, quality-focused Software QA Engineer for their client in Grand Rapids, Michigan to support end-to-end quality across customer-facing web and mobile applications. The role is centered on quality assurance, with an emphasis on testing rigor, usability, and the ability to understand requirements and user impact.

Key Responsibilities

·   Own end-to-end quality for customer-facing web and mobile applications.

·   Design and execute comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies.

·   Define and maintain test plans, test cases, regression coverage, and defect tracking for UI and API testing.

·   Validate APIs and perform data-driven testing to ensure front-end and back-end coverage.

·   Collaborate with developers, designers, and stakeholders to improve product usability and quality.

·   Translate user behavior and product requirements into clear QA deliverables and acceptance coverage.

·   Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide a user-focused QA perspective during requirements refinement.

·   Identify UI and UX gaps early and advocate for improvements before release.

·   Support backlog refinement and user story validation from a quality and testability perspective.

Required Qualifications

·   5+ years of hands-on Quality Assurance experience, including mobile and web application testing.

·   Demonstrated experience with manual and automated testing tools such as Cypress and Selenium.

·   Experience validating APIs and executing data-driven tests.

·   Strong working knowledge of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

·   Proven ability to identify user pain points, usability issues, and workflow risks early in the development life cycle.

·   Highly detail-oriented, methodical, and committed to delivering reliable, customer-centered products.

·   Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

·   High-level familiarity with requirements clarification, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, and prioritization.

Preferred Qualifications

·   Experience defining or refining user stories, acceptance criteria, or product requirements.

·   Background incorporating user research or customer feedback into quality decisions.

·   Familiarity with performance or load testing tools.

·   Experience building and executing automation frameworks from the ground up.
