Main duties

MAINTENANCE / GENERAL

  • Fully participate in and support the MERSEN Quality System.

General Description:

  • Repair and maintain buildings, facilities, small machines and equipment.  Requires the use of carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, machine repair, electrical, masonry and painting skills.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Involves the laying of concrete blocks and slabs, measuring, cutting and threading of pipe in accordance with specifications and instructions.  Install, maintain and repair electrical distribution systems, controls, portable power tools, etc.  Measure, cut and form conduit, pull and connect wires, install outlet and control boxes, switches, and other miscellaneous electrical gears.  Assist in the building and rebuilding of furnaces, making and replacing fingers when required.
  • Measure, cut and fit materials for shelves, partitions, etc.  Maintenance of interior and exterior of building to include painting, varnishing or staining and repair of windows, doors, roof, floors, stairways and walls.  Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light bulbs, motor controls and switches.
  • Rebuild and remodel machine and overhaul troublesome components and attachments; which will involve the dismantling, inspection, machining and/or replacement of purchased parts.  Perform skilled operations such as:  fitting and aligning bearings, spindles and shafts, align and calibrate measuring devices and moving parts, adjusting and feeding mechanisms.  Oil and lubricate machines and equipment on a routine basis and according to preventative maintenance schedules where established.
  • Work from machine design drawings, specifications and handbook formulas using scales, verniers, squares, calipers, micrometers, etc.  Use of various hand and bench tools that are used in masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and machine repair work.
  • Continually improve and monitor quality through product delivery, conformance and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Suggested high school diploma or general education degree (GED);  or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
