What is USA Boxing and what does it do?

USA Boxing is the national governing body for Olympic-style amateur boxing in the United States. It oversees the sport at all levels, including local, regional, and national competitions, as well as the selection and training of athletes for the U.S. Olympic boxing team. USA Boxing also sets safety standards, certifies coaches and officials, and promotes the development of youth and grassroots boxing programs. The organization is recognized by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the International Boxing Association (IBA).

What are some common challenges faced by USA Boxing coaches when working with athletes at different skill levels?

USA Boxing coaches often work with athletes ranging from beginners to advanced competitors, which can present unique challenges. Balancing individualized instruction while maintaining group cohesion is essential, as is adapting training plans for varying experience levels and physical abilities. Coaches must also foster a positive and safe environment that encourages skill development, discipline, and teamwork, while staying updated on the latest rules and safety protocols established by USA Boxing. Collaboration with other coaches, medical staff, and athletes' families is often key to supporting athlete growth and performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a USA Boxing Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a USA Boxing Coach, you need a solid understanding of boxing techniques, training methodologies, and typically a USA Boxing coach certification. Familiarity with video analysis tools, athlete management systems, and first aid/CPR certifications are commonly required. Strong leadership, motivational abilities, and effective communication are essential soft skills for guiding athletes and fostering team cohesion. These skills ensure safe, effective training and help athletes reach their competitive potential while adhering to national standards.

• Year 1 OTE: $100,000 – $130,000
• Year 2 OTE: $120,000 – $130,000+
• Monthly vehicle allowance (potential for company vehicle after proven performance)
• Full benefits package
• Laptop, cell phone, and expense account
• Employee recognition and rewards
• Flex hours and home-based work arrangement
• Career path to U.S. National Sales Manager within ~2 years for top performer
THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client is a family-owned company with ~25 years in business and the U.S. operating entity of an Australian-headquartered manufacturer. They produce boxing equipment in their own Pakistan facility and import apparel, footwear, and accessories. The company is in a scale-up phase with 25–50% annual revenue growth and is expanding the U.S. field sales team from one rep to five over the next 12–24 months. They have 15 employees globally and 2 in the U.S. today. Clients include USA Boxing (exclusive sponsor for 10 years), multi-location fight retailers, boxing and MMA gyms, municipal programs, and military accounts. Their culture is described as a happy family— one that is passionate, collaborative, customer-focused, dedicated, and hardworking. They are results-driven, take employee feedback seriously, and offer strong growth opportunities in a scale-up environment.

• Overnight travel: 10–25%
EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• 3–10 years of B2B outside/field sales experience with a proven track record in new business development (ideal range 3–7 years)
• Comfortable with face-to-face selling, in-person discovery, and territory ownership
• Genuine passion for boxing, MMA, or combat sports is required — must credibly engage gym owners, fighters, and coaches
• Industry experience is preferred but not required (sporting goods, fitness equipment, combat-sports brands, athletic apparel, or gym equipment backgrounds are relevant)
• Big-box retail sales experience is acceptable — transition to smaller accounts will be supported
• College diploma minimum
• Valid U.S. driver’s licence and personal vehicle required
• Bilingual English/Spanish is an advantage

• Boxing gyms (Olympic, amateur, pro, kickboxing), MMA gyms, and fitness boxing studios

• Primary decision-makers: gym owners, coaches, and procurement contacts
SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE

• Mix of transactional and relationship-driven sales
• Sales cycle varies by opportunity type

• Represent the company at USA Boxing tournaments and trade shows
OVERNIGHT TRAVEL
