Job description

Definition Under direction from the Community Services Manager, performs training and instructions on safe boxing techniques to participants which includes youth and adults in basic and safe boxing techniques; performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Supervision is provided by the Community Services Manager, Supervision is not exercised by this classification. Essential Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Assists in the training and instruction of participants in basic boxing techniques to provide a quality competitive environment to train and motivate young athletes and adults in the sport of boxing; instructs boxing team participants on safe boxing techniques and physical training regimens.

Monitors program activities; assists participants in boxing activities and programs. Prevents accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of boxing patrons. Monitors activities in the facilities for individuals who may need assistance or guidance.

Monitors guests and program participants and enforces rules, regulations, and safety precautions at boxing facilities. Maintains discipline, monitors behavior, and resolves issues according to established procedures. Provides instruction and related coaching to program participants.

Recommends performances of program participants to Instructor; explains techniques and assists with skills improvement. Assists in preparing venue for activities and events, including setting up and taking down related equipment and materials. Maintains equipment and facilities in clean and safe condition.

Assists in conducting boxing classes for different age groups; assists in monitoring boxing activities during training and practices. Administers first aid as needed; contacts Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on serious accident cases. Communicates with administrators, personnel, and outside organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information.

Operates various program equipment as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Two (2) years of experience with instructing boxing programs.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional Requirements/Information: Valid certificates for First Aid and CPR issued by an authorized agency must be obtained within 90 days of appointment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or reach. Lift up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required to perform office machine operations.

Working Conditions Work is performed indoors and outdoors at City boxing facility and other venues as assigned. Incumbents may be required to work overtime, and evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
