Overview:

Lead end-to-end solution architecture and design across the SAP S/4HANA Transformation, withaprimary focus on upstream business processes and solutions. Own overall solution integrity across upstream releases, value streams, and functional domains, ensuring architectural coherence across SAP S/4HANA and the broader ecosystem.

TheChevron ERP Transformation program isaSAP S/4HANAmulti-year globalimplementation. The program willdeliver a standardized ERPenablingcontinuous innovationforthe enterprise. It will reduce customization, fulfill software upgradestimelyto deliver new business innovations, and lowerthetotal cost of ownership.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead end-to-end upstream solution design and ensure overall solution integrity across releases, value streams, and functional domains.

  • Provide architecture governance and assurance by guiding architecture reviews and design escalations, including extension decision support (e.g., yellow/red decisions).

  • Ensure adherence to internal architecture policies and standards.

  • Own decisions on architectural patterns, extension placement, and technical debt trade-offs.

  • Partner with Product Management, Program Management, and Business to ensure designs are aligned to business outcomes.

  • Influence release sequencing, scopeprioritization andtrade-offs, and solution simplification to reduce cost and delivery risk.

  • Providepointofview on solution implications, risks, and options to program leadership.

  • Provide technical direction and accountability across system integrator (SI) and vendor architects, ensuring external designs align with Chevron standards and ERP Transformation Program design strategy.

  • Act as design authority when vendor recommendations conflict with or diverge from the target architecture.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in ERP/SAP solution architecture and end-to-end design for large, complex transformation programs (including multi-release delivery).

  • Proven experience delivering SAP S/4HANA solution architecture (and/or SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation), including fit-to-standard, cross-module integration, and clean-core/extension strategy decisions.

  • Demonstratedexpertisein Upstream Oil & Gas business processes and end-to-end scenarios, and the ability to translate business outcomes into coherent ERP solution designs.

  • Strong experience with architecture governance and assurance, including leading design reviews, driving resolution of design escalations, and enforcing architecture standards and guardrails across domains.

  • Ability to make and defend architecture decisions related to patterns, extension placement, and technical debt trade-offs, balancing business value, delivery risk, and total cost of ownership.

  • Experience designing and assuring complex enterprise ecosystems across SAP and non-SAP platforms, including integration patterns, data flows, and the broader application landscape.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence scope, sequencing, and simplification decisions to reduce cost and delivery risk, and to communicate solution implications, options, and risks to senior leaders.

  • Proven experience providing technical direction to system integrators and vendors, including accountability for solution quality and alignment to enterprise architecture standards and program design strategy.

  • Bachelor'sdegree inComputerScience, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on functional and solution architecture experience in SAP S/4HANA Asset Management/EAM (e.g., maintenance planning, work execution, reliability, and performance reporting) in an asset-intensive environment.

  • Experience with upstream-focused SAP and adjacent solutions (e.g., integration to field/operations systems, production operations, and materials/supply processes supporting upstream execution).

  • Demonstrated experienceestablishingor operating "clean core" practices, including extension governance and the use of SAP BTP and standard APIs/integration patterns.

  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms and patterns (e.g., event-based integration, API management, middleware)and designing resilient integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems.

  • Experience with ERP data architecture concepts including master data governance, data quality, and analytics/reporting implications of solution design decisions.

  • Strong program leadership skills working with multiple stakeholders (Business, Product, IT, and vendors), including influencing withoutauthorityand driving alignment across teams.

  • Experience with solution options analysis and trade-off facilitation (scope, sequencing, risk, cost, and operability)and communicating recommendations clearly to executive leadership.

  • SAP certification(s) and/or architecture certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application/Technology Associate, TOGAF) preferred.
