Job description

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider will work with the collaborating physician to provide Acute Care Services to providing timely evaluations and treatment of Oncology patients with Urgent and Non-Emergent needs at the Upstate Cancer Center.

As an Upstate Cancer Center APP you will be responsible for:

Comprehensive health assessments, conducting follow-up visits.

Initiating, and completing treatment plans and continuing chemotherapy treatments.

Managing the in-basket and ensuring quality care of this patient population.

Submitting prescription refills, disability paperwork, treatment plan signing and infusion coverage.

Ordering interventions based on clinical assessments.

Consult with physician for abnormal findings as appropriate and assist in planning and ordering care and treatment for patients requiring triage.

APP will actively participate in quality improvements working on teams and committees.

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program).

  • NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.

  • Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.

  • Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.

  • CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in Hematology/Oncology and/or Acute Care areas preferred.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, Days. Acute Care services operate from 7:30 am - 8:00 pm.

Position is part-time FTE of .9.
