Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Warehouse / Operations – Geismar, Louisiana | Full-Time | Entry–Mid Level


JOB SUMMARY


The Shipping and Receiving Specialist supports warehouse and shipping/receiving operations while serving as the primary point of contact at the Will Call desk for face-to-face customer service. This role works cross-functionally with all departments to ensure accurate inventory management, timely shipment scheduling, and a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.


JOB RELATIONSHIPS


Immediate Supervisor: Inventory Control / Purchasing Manager

Workers Supervised: None

Interrelationships: Interfaces daily with Inside Sales, Field Services, and external customers and carriers


QUALIFICATIONS


Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Training / Experience: Minimum 2 years of inventory control, shipping/receiving, or warehouse experience required; forklift and chainsaw operation preferred; knowledge of oil & gas or HDPE pipe products a plus; TWIC card and OSHA certification preferred; must pass drug screening

Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to operate inventory and ERP systems; strong attention to detail for order accuracy; effective verbal and written communication; valid driver's license required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


1.Ability to work indoors and outdoors in manufacturing, warehouse, and plant environments

2.Must be able to sit, stand, and bend for extended periods

3.Must be able to lift and carry 50+ lbs

4.Prolonged computer data entry and administrative tasks required

5.Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times in warehouse and outdoor settings

6.Travel may be required; must maintain a valid driver's license and current site-access credentials (TWIC, FRC)


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY AND ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES


1.Shipping and Receiving

•Inspect all incoming shipments against bills of lading and packing slips to verify accuracy

•Unload pipe deliveries using a forklift; organize pipe in the yard by size and wall thickness

•Load trucks with pipes, machines, and fittings in accordance with purchase orders

•Schedule outbound shipments via UPS, LTL, and hot shot carriers

•Maintain and order propane for forklift operations


2.Will Call and Customer Service

•Greet and assist customers at the Will Call desk with order fulfillment and product inquiries

•Fabricate pipe as needed to fulfill specific customer requests

•Cut pipe using a chainsaw in compliance with all safety procedures; bundle for shipment


3.Inventory Management

•Package parts and fittings accurately for outbound orders

•Maintain up-to-date inventory records in the company's systems

•Conduct daily maintenance of the pipe yard to ensure cleanliness and organization

•Perform general warehouse maintenance, including trash removal and facility upkeep


4.Administrative Support

•Answer phones, respond to emails, and perform data entry into ERP and other systems

•Maintain accurate expense documentation

•Assist with billing and invoice creation as needed


5.Vehicle and Site Preparation

•Perform routine vehicle maintenance and ensure readiness for site visits

•Maintain current TWIC, FRC, and any other required site-access credentials
