Location: United States, Remote with 30% travel, domestic and international

As a Senior Electrical Engineer - MV AI UPS Data Centers & Storage you will provide technical leadership for the design, validation, and optimization of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects supporting next-generation data center and grid applications. Reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer, you will lead battery sizing, evaluate BESS technologies, validate inverter/PCS performance, and drive the integration of EMS, Plant Controllers, and SCADA systems to ensure reliable, high-performing energy storage solutions. This is a highly collaborative role that combines advanced engineering analysis, controls expertise, and operational optimization to shape the future of large-scale energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Battery sizing and lifecycle modeling
โ€ข BESS vendor model review and validation
โ€ข EMS and Plant Controller integration
โ€ข Controls strategy validation
โ€ข Inverter/PCS modeling experience
โ€ข SCADA and operational analytics
โ€ข Python, VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, Git
Required Qualifications:
โ€ข 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a focus on battery systems, BESS vendor evaluation, inverter/PCS performance validation, and EMS or Plant Controller integration.
โ€ข Battery, PCS & Controls Expertise: Deep knowledge of battery sizing, lifecycle modeling, controls strategy validation, and BESS vendor model review in utility-scale energy storage environments including experience with PSCAD and MATLAB.
โ€ข Systems Integration: Proven ability to lead EMS and Plant Controller integration efforts, including SCADA configuration and operational optimization for BESS deployments.
โ€ข Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Python, VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, and Git for engineering analysis and operational analytics.
โ€ข Communication: Ability to coordinate effectively with EMS vendors, controls engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and optimized energy storage solutions.
