Job description

Join a team of skilled professionals dedicated to ensuring the reliability and performance of critical power systems. As a UPS Technician III (Traveling), you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and related battery systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, lead teams, and collaborate with contractors and clients across different locations. Responsibilities
  • Perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance for UPS and battery systems.
  • Lead and execute UPS replacements and new installations, ensuring minimal disruption to customers.
  • Diagnose and repair all types of UPS systems, including routine and emergency repairs, without supervision.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, start up, and commission UPS systems and related equipment.
  • Supervise and guide teams with varying skill levels on job sites, promoting productivity and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Operate equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers.
  • Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials needed for maintenance and installation services.
  • Monitor crew productivity and safety, taking action when necessary to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Foster a positive team environment and mentor less experienced technicians.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate clearly with coworkers, management, and clients.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems related to UPS, DC systems, and familiarity with OEMs such as Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, and Emerson.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools including digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
  • Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
  • Understanding of torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of installations.
  • Ability to operate and understand isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple tasks, and teach technical skills to others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour certification, NFPA-70E Safety Training, and Thermography Level 2 or higher.
  • US Citizenship required.
