Make an Impact in the Aerospace Industry: Design, Fabricate, and Install High-Quality Upholstery for Aircraft Interiors
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Senior Upholstery Technician to join our team and elevate the design and quality of aircraft interiors. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced upholstery expert to work independently, lead projects, and make an impact on aerospace craftsmanship. Position Purpose:
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing upholstery and trim items within aircraft interiors. As a Senior Technician, you will oversee projects, provide guidance to peers, and mentor fellow technicians while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. You will also assist the Shop Lead in driving process improvements, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and various assemblies in aircraft interiors.
  • Read and interpret design/engineering drawings to ensure the final product meets specifications.
  • Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all styles of panels while adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Utilize the Corridor material tracking system for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-offs.
  • Cut and install custom-designed carpets with unique patterns, ensuring perfect fit and finish.
  • Lead projects when required, coordinating tasks and delegating responsibilities to fellow technicians.
  • Conduct safety audits, assist in shop equipment maintenance, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Mentor and train less-experienced technicians, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement process improvements, focusing on efficiency and cost reduction.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4 years of upholstery experience, including at least 2 years of aircraft upholstery experience or 6 years of commercial upholstery experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and products, as well as advanced carpet installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with Company inspection and process specifications.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use material tracking systems.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work in small areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Prior mentoring or leadership experience in a technical setting.
  • Expertise in advanced upholstery techniques and custom design applications.
