Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for making quality production parts, setting up and operating shearing, blanking, notching, piercing, and metal forming operations on various products and different types of machines.

Schedule:

(2) 1st Shift

(2) 2nd Shift

** Training will be on 2nd Shift for 4 weeks 2pm to 10pm **

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Perform set up, safety inspection and machine operations as required in a safe manner.

B. Read and interpret drawings and routings to determine requirements such as size of material, type of material and the quantity to be made.

C. Involves making adjustments to setups to make quality parts.

D. Parts should be checked for defects (burrs, missing holes, cracks, etc.) from previous operations during present operation.

E. Required to report hours and production quantities in the applicable system.

F. Use the safest procedure for handling, stacking and moving the material with a cart, hand truck or forklift as necessary.

G. Perform hourly and first piece quality inspections and tracking of material utilizing appropriate measuring instruments and tools.

H. Adherence to standard operating procedures.

I. The move ticket filled out complete and attached to the load.

J. Comply with all health and safety procedures.

K. Adhere to basic housekeeping of work area; i.e., wood, scrap metal, garbage, liquid spills.

L. Required to train other employees.

M. Assume additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant.

REQUIRED SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:

A. 1+ years’ experience in machine operation, set up, mechanical position within a manufacturing environment preferred. High level of mechanical aptitude required.

B. Understanding of quality requirement and of ISO 9001:2015 procedures.

C. Knowledge of labor cards, routing and move tickets.

D. Experience working with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts preferred.

E. Knowledge of department procedures and applicable system transactions.

F. Able to read and understand blueprints, diagrams and work instructions.

G. Knowledge of company policies, shop and safety rules.

H. Verbal and written communication in English.

I. Knowledge on the care and use of inspection devices/tools.

J. Basic computer and math skills.

K. Exceptional attention to details.

L. Strong motivation, high energy and ability to work independently or with a team.

M. As required, ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift cumbersome and or heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
