Job description

Summary:
The Parks Facility Maintenance Technician position will perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor in daily maintenance, projects and related service activities for municipal recreational facilities and parks, to include aquatic facilities. Duties may include cleaning, and care of a large indoor sports and aquatic facility, maintenance and care of restrooms, litter pickup, parking lot maintenance, landscape maintenance, trail systems, etc.  This position will be directly involved in the set up and breakdown of major facility events. Will operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment such as floor machines, scrubbers, buffers, lifts, skid loader, mowers, tractor and other specialized equipment and trucks.  This position will also be responsible for participating in snow removal operations. It is anticipated that this position will work evenings and weekends as needed to facilitate aquatic events, tournaments and recreational programming.


Qualifications:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade with one to two years of experience required in facilities and/or park maintenance.  Must have the physical ability to walk, crawl, kneel or stand for prolonged periods of time; perform moderate to heavy moving and lifting, and be subject to continuous physical exertion in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
The successful candidate must pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen and have a valid Kansas driver’s license.
