Duties

• As a Plumber, you will perform the following duties which is not all inclusive list:
• Plans and performs work based on oral instructions, preventive maintenance programs, work orders, emergency calls, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and layout sketches.
• Plans the sequence of work and determines the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete assigned projects.
• Performs assigned plumbing work independently from start to completion while following established procedures and quality standards.
• Uses sound judgment to identify and resolve routine issues and refers unusual or difficult problems to the supervisor.
• Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for completing assignments efficiently, safely, and accurately.
• Ensures completed work complies with instructions, applicable standards, and acceptable workmanship requirements.
• Performs work that may be subject to spot checks during the project and upon completion to ensure quality and compliance.

• Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain within 6 months of hire, and maintain a Back Flow Prevention Certification for the duration of employment.
• The duties of this position may require the incumbent to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to work both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to mud, water, unsanitary work sites, power and hand tools, caustic soda, and hot lead.
• The duties of this position may require the incumbent to have frequent exposure to scrapes, burns, and potential infections, based on the needs and working conditions of the organization.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including making repairs and/or installation of water closets, tubs and showers. Work from verbal instructions only. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work involves considerable standing, stooping and bending. The employee is required to work on ladders and scaffolds which frequently involve working in uncomfortable or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. The employee is exposed to mud and water, and is subject to infection from unsanitary work sites. Injury may occur from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
