Job description

Unreal Engine Software Developer (Modeling & Simulation)

  • Develop and maintain real-time simulation software using Unreal Engine for aviation training and mission rehearsal systems supporting programs at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
  • Collaborate with the Visual Systems Team to integrate real-time graphics, Image Generators (IG), and out-the-window (OTW) visual environments used in piloted simulation systems.
  • Design and implement high-fidelity 3D environments, aircraft models, terrain databases, and visual effects to support immersive simulation scenarios.
  • Develop and optimize real-time rendering pipelines, shaders, and performance tuning to ensure stable frame rates and low latency for piloted simulators.
  • Integrate Unreal-based visualization with simulation frameworks, avionics models, and external data interfaces used in training and engineering simulators.
  • Support visual database development and maintenance, including terrain generation, texturing, lighting, and environmental effects for OTW systems.
  • Participate in system integration, test events, and troubleshooting within laboratory and simulator environments supporting aviation modeling and simulation programs.
