Job Summary
Performs diversified and complex tasks associated with tool fabrication required in the development of composite components, assemblies, bonded parts and other miscellaneous accessories. The Tool maker will support operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem-solving skills. They will deliver robust, capable process technology as it applies to both materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lay out metal and non-metal stock
  • Build and assemble storage or shipping crates
  • Use common hand tools (wrenches, sockets, air tools, etc.)
  • Clean and repair common tools throughout the facility
  • Perform repair and refurbishment of common tools
  • Perform hand-operation tasks requiring minor engineering changes (e.g., excess ink lines, re-identification)
  • Work with manufacturing operations to maintain production schedules
  • Perform leak detection checks
  • Record work-in-process, inventories, schedules, and labor expenditures
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance per schedule
  • Assist with research and development projects
  • Check work to ensure quality standards are met
  • Adhere to internal and customer specifications and procedures
  • Escalate tooling issues appropriately
  • Intermediate blueprint interpretation (dimensions, views, simple tolerances)
  • Understanding of fixture/tooling purpose and function
  • Basic understanding of adhesives, sealants, and shop chemicals
