Job description

As an Engineer with 41 North Offshore, you are directly responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical and electrical systems aboard the tug. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the vessel’s machinery, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting uninterrupted vessel operations. You will work closely with the Captain and fellow crew members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced marine engineering, troubleshooting, and repair skills to maintain vessel systems and equipment, including cranes, winches, electrical systems, pumps, main engines, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all vessel machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues within the scope of your qualifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and service documentation.
  • Ensure the engine room and all machinery spaces are clean, organized, and maintained to the highest safety standards.
  • Monitor the performance and condition of propulsion systems, generators, steering equipment, deck machinery, and associated components.
  • Maintain compliance with all company quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, drills, audits, and training sessions in accordance with company and customer policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
