What is an unlicensed assistant?

Unlicensed assistants are support personnel who help licensed professionals, such as real estate agents or brokers, with administrative and clerical tasks. They are not licensed to perform activities that require a professional license, such as negotiating contracts or giving advice to clients. Their duties often include answering phones, scheduling appointments, preparing documents, and managing listings. The exact responsibilities can vary depending on the industry and employer, but unlicensed assistants play a vital role in keeping operations running smoothly.

What are the most common responsibilities of an unlicensed assistant in a real estate office?

Unlicensed Assistants in real estate offices typically support agents and brokers with administrative tasks such as managing paperwork, scheduling appointments, maintaining client databases, and preparing marketing materials. They are not permitted to perform activities that require a real estate license, such as showing properties or discussing contract terms. Most of their work involves behind-the-scenes organization to help licensed agents operate more efficiently. This role often serves as an excellent entry point for those considering a future career in real estate.
