Position Summary:

Responsible for the Operational support of LINUX/UNIX-based messaging systems. Primarily responsible for system availability, troubleshooting/triage for production problems. Participates in a service monitoring function with responsibilities in areas of incident and problem management. Role will contribute to product/service design, development and implementation deliverables, to include assessment and optimization of systems and review of user requirements.

  • Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides technical knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor.
  • Typically 7 or more years of Linux systems experience.
  • The selected candidate would become part of the Collaboration Operations Team (Email/Routing). In addition to the daily Messaging Operations Tasks, he/she will be assigned to 24x7 on-call rotation as part of the MCS UNIX Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executes processes in support of the IT infrastructure and resources required to plan for, develop, deliver and support IT services and products to meet the needs of a business within required SLAs.
  • Manage and support Email Routing infrastructure applications on a day to day basis.
  • Installs, configures and troubleshoots Applications used to support Email Routing Infrastructure.
  • Monitor, measure, report and review current performance of application services and ensure availability and capacity meet business demand.
  • Facilitates the resolution (both reactive and proactive) of problems throughout the information system lifecycle, including classification, prioritization and initiation of action. Documentation of root causes and implementation of remedies to prevent future incidents.
  • Collaborates effectively with their Architecture/Engineering peers for new initiative solution planning, testing/validation, complex troubleshooting, and problem resolution
  • On-Call support responsibilities (coverage nights & weekends)

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong OS background with Linux systems.
  • Strong scripting/development skills with Python, Perl, Shell.
  • Experience with SMTP Email relaying and routing.
  • Experience with Email Hygiene systems, including Anti-spam, Antivirus, Malware Prevention, and Data Loss Prevention
  • Experience with monitoring technologies (SPLUNK,NAGIOS)
  • Proven experience in problem identification, troubleshooting and resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
