Job Description:
Apex Systems is hiring a Systems Administrator for a large Healthcare client.
Location: Livermore, California (On-site)
Contract length: 5 month contract with possibility of extension or conversion.
Role Overview
This role involves supporting a new Distributed Order Management System used for prescription fulfillment. The position requires working in a fast-paced warehouse environment on the production floor. The ideal candidate will provide first and second-level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents to minimize system issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first and second-level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents.
  • Support system stability, availability, and performance by monitoring systems to identify problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with technical and project team members to resolve system and application-specific issues.
  • Complete work assignments by applying knowledge to meet deadlines, following procedures and policies.
  • Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment, actively contributing on the production floor.
  • Utilize analytical thinking to research and solve unknown problems, requesting assistance when necessary.
  • Create, follow, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop UNIX-based facilities that are fault-tolerant, restartable, and reusable.
  • Program UNIX shell scripts using 'C' and Korn shell.
  • Set up file transfer processes (Connect Direct, XCOM, FTP) between different platforms.
Required Qualifications
Education: A High School degree is required and approximately 2-4 years of equivalent experience in IT is required.
Experience: 2-4 years of related experience. Candidates must demonstrate application analysis, design skills, and troubleshooting capabilities.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in UNIX, Batch processing, FTP, AWK, SED, and SQL. Experience with AutoSys for scheduling is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A college degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of Open Shift, Oracle, Linux, Splunk, and JAVA.
Work Environment
This position requires working on-site. The standard shift is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility required for potential shifts in the afternoon or evening. The dress code is business casual.
