Position Overview:

Assists press operators in the makeready and running of presses. Assistance will be required in the day-to-day preparation of materials and equipment needed to produce printed products. May also be asked to assist with routine press maintenance, and to operate press on a fill-in basis as needed. Establishes and maintains a solid working relationship with co-workers to ensure maximum plant productivity and quality control according to established standards. May also be asked to assist in other areas of plant as workload permits, i.e. in the bale room.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating various machinery, with a focus on print advertising and graphic design processes. This role is essential in ensuring that our production runs smoothly and efficiently, while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Duties

  • Operate and monitor printing presses, ensuring quality control throughout the production process.
  • Conduct prepress tasks, including layout design and color management to prepare materials for printing.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to understand project specifications and deliver high-quality printed materials.
  • Utilize CNC machinery for precision cutting and shaping of materials as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
  • Assist in training new operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.

What you will be doing:

Experienced Print and Bindery Operator: Can operate machine(s), do set-ups, changeovers, and troubleshoot machine problems with no assistance. Can also perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and train others on specific equipment.

The Machine Operator will be responsible for independently performing and managing with the following capability and objectives:

  • Read and interpret job instructions prior to machine set-up
  • Set up and operate production machines following procedures and guidelines
  • Perform quality checks and monitor productivity numbers during the production run and adjust machine settings as required
  • Manage set-ups and change-overs, per specifications
  • Effectively problem-solve under pressure
  • Complete machine /line clearance at the end of each production run and 5-S Lean disciplines at the end of each shift
  • Understand and support production quality and/or minor repairs on machinery to further these objectives.
  • Read and interpret machine and safety instructions
  • Work effectively in a dynamic production environment and embrace a positive teamwork approach
  • Work together with the machine maintenance team
  • Pursue cross-training and skill development on multiple machines and operate machines as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Print and Bindery Operator experience
  • Independent problem solving skill.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and able to collect and report variable data during production operation.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Project Ticket procedural requirements, documentation, and closure steps.
  • Applicable machine computer skills
  • Ability to understand and meet customer (internal and external) expectations
  • Ability to set up and maintain accurate placement of inkjet text at designated print position
  • Ability to pass OJT qualification review check after each machine operation procedural training steps are complete. Strong work ethic, dependable job performance, and reliable attendance.
