About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Custodial Lead provides operational leadership and direction to a team of frontline custodians while performing hands-on, advanced cleaning tasks. This role ensures university classrooms, offices, laboratories, and public spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation. The Lead acts as the primary point of contact for daily shift operations and steps in to support the supervisor during absences.

Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Assign daily tasks, coordinate shift schedules, and provide hands-on training to custodial staff on equipment and safety protocols.
Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with university cleaning standards and address deficiencies promptly.
Advanced Floor Care: Operate heavy-duty machinery to strip, wax, buff, and burnish floors, and perform deep carpet extraction.
Inventory Management: Monitor supply levels, request equipment repairs, and distribute cleaning chemicals and tools to staff.
Event Support: Coordinate and assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture for university events, conferences, and graduation ceremonies.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safe handling of chemical solutions (SDS guidelines) and ensure the team uses personal protective equipment (PPE).Weekend and after normal hours duties will be required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Other Required Qualifications
Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's license in good standings.
Required Experience
3 years of experience in Custodial Services.
3 years of supervisor experience in Custodial Services.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a university setting.
Proposed Salary
Salary range is from $28,000 to $32,000.
