Job description

Gupta Media is looking for a Director of Social Media, to lead our Organic Media Department. If you are a visionary strategist who is passionate about the intersection of storytelling and platform innovation, with extensive experience in building engaged communities, driving cultural relevance, and scaling organic impact for global brands, live events, and the creator economy, we want to talk with you
Gupta Media was founded over 25 years ago on the idea that advertising could create huge leverage in our clients' businesses. Our work initially focused on the entertainment industry, specifically live events and recorded music (SXSW, Sony Music, Universal Music, and Disney Music Group are all clients). We have grown to include global brands (Amazon, Sophia Learning), major sports franchises (X Games, Florida Panthers, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Cavaliers, Women's Tennis Association), as well as public sector institutions (City of Boston, Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism).
As Director of Social Media, you will lead our organic social and influencer marketing offerings, owning how brands earn attention, not buy it. You will shape always-on content, creator partnerships, and community engagement strategies that build relevance and loyalty over time, distinct from paid amplification, as an experienced storyteller who understands that organic social is the heartbeat of a brand. You will scale our organic discipline by driving creator-led strategies, cultural moments, and platform-native content-bridging high-level brand strategy with real-time execution, and partnering with paid media teams to amplify what's already working.
Strategic Consulting & Client Leadership
Serving as a strategic lead for our high-priority global clients, you will be instrumental in developing long-term organic and influencer marketing roadmaps that align with clients' business objectives. You will own the vision for how our clients grow their digital footprint, ensuring organic programs are not just "always-on" filler, but strategic drivers that navigate the creator economy and platform evolution to build measurable brand equity. You will also play a key role in business development-identifying growth opportunities, shaping organic and creator-led scopes for new and existing clients, and partnering with leadership to convert strategic ideas into revenue.
Team Management
As Director, you will manage a team of strategists and social media managers, ensuring they are delivering excellence at every stage of a campaign. You will be deeply involved in supporting their hiring, training, and ongoing career development, fostering a culture of curiosity and creative storytelling.
Strategy & Discipline Development
As Director of our Organic team, you will define the technology stack and operational processes for pitching, planning, and reporting. You will stay at the forefront of the creator economy and platform algorithm shifts, building our internal strategy for emerging platforms and working with clients to facilitate innovative testing in the organic space.
Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a preference for Marketing, Advertising, Business, Communications, or related field;
  • 8+ years of agency and/or brand-side experience with a dedicated focus on organic social media and influencer marketing;
  • Proven experience managing complex clients and navigating the intersection of organic social and the creator economy;
  • Deep expertise across the social ecosystem (Meta, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) and a strong understanding of how organic social integrates with paid media and creative workstreams;
  • A strong portfolio of successful campaigns demonstrating the ability to use storytelling to build awareness, engage new communities, and drive business results;
  • Experience in managing a team of direct reports and building departmental workflows;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to use data to inform creative and strategic decisions;
  • A high level of enthusiasm and professionalism, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adjust strategy as cultural trends shift

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $120,000 - $150,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. This role is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan, which is based on the company's performance.
We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and pet insurance; Flexible and Dependent Care Savings Accounts; a 401(k) with up to 5% Safe Harbor contributions; paid time off; paid family leave; commuting and wellness stipends; and opportunities for professional development and career growth.
