Job description

Universal Logistics is hiring Driver Trainees in Fort Wayne, IN!.

This is an opportunity for qualified candidates to begin a path toward a full-time CDL A local dedicated driver position. Selected candidates who do not currently hold a CDL may be considered for company-sponsored CDL school.

After successfully completing CDL school, obtaining a Class A CDL, and meeting hiring requirements, you will transition into a full-time local dedicated driving role.


Compensation After CDL Completion:

  • $26.00/hour
  • Overtime after 40 hours
  • Annual pay increases

Driver Duties After CDL Completion:

  • Operate on local dedicated lanes from Fort Wayne, Roanoke, and Columbia City terminals to GM plants and back
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies
  • Maintain logs and required documentation
  • Communicate with dispatch and customers.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Able to meet pre-employment screening requirements
  • Able to complete approved CDL school and obtain a Class A CDL
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
  • No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years.

CDL sponsorship terms:

Company sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates. If a candidate receives sponsored CDL school through Universal Logistics, repayment terms and employment expectations will be provided in writing before enrollment.
