Their role combines elements of customer service, sales, and financial advising to address a wide range of client needs, including opening accounts, providing product recommendations, and helping with basic transactions. Universal Branch Advisors are trained to assist with both day-to-day banking and more complex financial solutions, making them versatile team members. They often help customers navigate digital banking tools and ensure a positive overall banking experience.

Job description

Universal Banker

Department: Retail Banking  |  Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Overview

The Universal Banker is the face of our branch — the person customers trust to handle their day-to-day banking needs while also helping them discover products and services that fit their financial lives. In this full-time role, you'll move fluidly between teller transactions and personal banking functions, building genuine relationships that drive both customer satisfaction and branch growth. You bring the energy, we'll bring the training.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver consistently excellent service across every customer interaction — in person, by phone, and through follow-up — while processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle a full range of teller and banking transactions: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, new account openings, account maintenance, and branch inventory.
  • Own your drawer: reconcile and balance your teller drawer, vault, mail drop, and night depository daily. Research discrepancies and correct errors promptly.
  • Actively cross-sell and refer products and services that genuinely meet customer needs, contributing to branch sales goals and business development.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all deposit products and transactions in compliance with bank policy, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Guide customers through online banking setup, troubleshooting, and self-service tools to increase digital adoption and reduce friction.
  • Support branch operations by answering phones, processing incoming mail, and collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Model professional behavior and contribute to a positive, team-oriented branch culture.
What You Bring
  • 1–2 years of customer service, sales, or cash handling experience — banking background preferred, but strong service instincts matter most.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Clear, professional communication — written and verbal — with the confidence to engage diverse customers and build trust quickly.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a natural drive to go the extra mile for customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new banking software and systems.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational habits, with a genuine commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Schedule

This is a full-time position. Standard branch hours apply, including rotating Saturdays. Specific schedule will be discussed during the interview process.

Benefits Offered (Full-time employees)
  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans. Also offers a Health Payment Account (HPA).
  • Retirement: Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with a dedicated wealth advisor.
  • Wellness/Ancillary: Includes supplemental benefits including Accident, Critical Illness, Short-Term Disability and employer-paid Life Insurance.
