Role Overview:Looking for a Unity Developer to join a small, fast-moving team building simulation applications. You would own meaningful portions of software development (e.g., from feature work through production deployments) in environments with infrastructure and compliance constraints. This role suits a strong software engineer who is comfortable in new technical territory, moves fast without cutting corners, and has the instincts to make decisions today that don't create problems down the road. Hours per week is currently at 40 but it should be part-time support over time (20 hours per week). 2. Tasks and Duties of the Role: Develop, maintain, and extend Unity applications targeting vehicle simulation contextsIntegrate applications with distributed messaging systems, including DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation) and ROS2Participate in and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including automated build, test, and deployment workflowsRefactor and improve production codebases, including under deployment pressure and time constraintsContribute to testing strategy and uphold code quality standards appropriate for mission-relevant applicationsIdentify and flag development decisions that could create downstream compliance issues in managed or accreditation-sensitive network environments (e.g., ATO)Collaborate with a small cross-functional team, taking ownership of tasks from scoping through delivery3. Required SkillsProficient Unity development, with shipped or production-deployed applicationsStrong software engineering fundamentals: clean architecture, test discipline, and readable codeHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment workflowsDemonstrated experience refactoring existing codebases, including in fast-moving or high-pressure situationsAbility to work effectively in a startup or similarly resource-constrained, ambiguous environmentCommunication skills sufficient to surface technical risks early and collaborate without heavy process4.
