K-12 Charter School Flag Football Coach: Multiple Positions Available
Job Summary:
Amplus Academy, a K-12 charter school, is looking for multiple Flag Football Coach positions across elementary, middle and high school. The ideal candidate would be someone with previous coaching experience that is committed to the development of students as both athletes and people. Candidates should be available in the afternoon, evening, and potential weekend hours for practices and games. Our school offers Flag Football programs starting in elementary school and the coaches will be expected to play a role in the development of our younger athletes in preparation for high school competition via camps, clinics, and collaboration with all grade level coaches.
Prospective hires must be able to pass a fingerprinting background check and complete all NIAA required training and certifications.
The athletic coach will be expected to adhere to Amplus Academy's professional standards as well as Nevada Department of Education licensure standards. Amplus Academy is a public charter school located in the Southwest area of Las Vegas. Amplus Academy has two campuses serving Kindergarten- 12th grade students.
Terms of Employment: Seasonal Position (November - February) with year round developmental and departmental responsibilities
Job Status: Part-Time, Temporary, Not Benefit Eligible
Salary: The compensation for this position is stipend based and will be determined by the Athletic Managers in conjunction with school administration. Stipend to begin at $1,000 with annual increases.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the behavior of student athletes in practices, scrimmages, home and away games and on out of state trips or tournaments.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Flag Football.
  • Participate in the development and promotion of the Flag Football program.
  • Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the Flag Football program.
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
  • Ensure all coaches work together toward a common goal within the Flag Football program and provide unity within the younger levels of the school program.
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Assess players skills and assign team positions.
  • Determine game strategy based on the teams' capabilities.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
  • Participate in special activities to include senior night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies.
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
  • Represent Amplus Academy and the Flag Football program in a professional manner.
  • Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Department or other appropriate administrator.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NCSAA, NFHS and NIAA rules.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written word, including social media and electronic communication.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court.
  • Willing to accept a high level of accountability.
  • Ability to assess players and coaches effectively.
  • Applicant should be professionally calm and motivationally intense.
  • Should be a progressive thinker and a believer in planning and preparation.

Education and Experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience coaching Flag Football preferred
  • Prior head coaching experience preferred
  • Nevada Substitute Teacher or Teaching License preferred
  • Must be CPR/AED certified, or able to gain certification prior to employment
  • Must have NIAA required trainings from NFHS Learn completed, or able to gain certification prior to employment
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Flag Football.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (NIAA), opponents, staff, parents, and students.
