What You'll Do

As a Trailer Technician, you'll inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trailers while ensuring every repair meets company, manufacturer, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and trailer repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, structural, electrical, suspension, brake, and air system concerns.
  • Repair and replace trailer components, including:
    • Brake systems
    • Wheel seals, hubs, and bearings
    • Suspension components
    • Air systems
    • Lighting and electrical systems
    • Landing gear
    • Tires and wheels
    • Doors, hardware, and trailer body components
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Conduct brake adjustments and verify proper torque specifications.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure repairs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welders, torches, lifts, jacks, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Complete repair orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate repair findings, additional recommendations, and parts needs with leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with technicians, foremen, service advisors, and parts personnel.
  • Meet established productivity, efficiency, and quality expectations.
  • Stay current on industry technologies, repair procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in diesel or automotive technology is a plus.
  • Previous trailer repair experience preferred.
  • ASE or OEM certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Strong understanding of trailer systems and repair procedures.
  • Experience with brake, suspension, wheel-end, electrical, and structural repairs.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow repair procedures and technical instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop environments.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment, machinery, and power tools.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
