Job description

Simple Laboratories is looking for an experienced Part-Time on-site Phlebotomist for our Chicago south side hospital location. The ideal candidate is phlebotomy certified, MA or nurse, and enjoys working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, and demonstrates optimal patient care.
Work hours: 3rd Shift |10:00 PM to 6:30 AM with rotating weekends
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure identification of patients and their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means.
  • Determine the right venipuncture method based on patients' age.
  • Reassure patients and help them relax.
  • Find veins that are suitable for venipuncture.
  • Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment.
  • Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.
  • Label samples correctly, process, package for courier delivery to the lab.
  • Answer patient questions and provide useful information.
  • Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.
Minimum Qualifications: (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
  • Three (3) years phlebotomy
  • Certified Phlebotomy Certificate Preferred or MA
  • High School or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must follow dress code; scrubs while performing phlebotomy or similar covering.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion.
