Unit Secretary III - Monitor Bank
Description:
The monitor bank is dedicated to safely overseeing the heart rhythms of patients requiring telemetry. Their job is to rapidly notify nursing staff of lethal and dangerous arrhythmias so the appropriate interventions can be made to save the patient's life
  • Monitor the heart rhythm of patients requiring telemetry.
  • Coordinate telemetry box assignments with the floors.
  • Communicate arrhythmias to appropriate staff and initiate emergency protocols if necessary.
  • Required to pass an initial basic arrhythmia test within one month of hire (class and tutoring is provided) as a condition of employment.
  • Required to pass annual basic arrhythmia test (review and tutoring are provided) as a condition of employment.
  • The ability to focus on computer screens for long periods of time and the completion of duties are required for patient safety.
  • Documentation of heart rhythms in electronic health record.
  • Must work well with others in a confined space, and communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Compliance with HIPAA federal regulations.
  • Clean used telemetry boxes between patients to maintain infection control.
  • There is no direct patient care.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
