This Position reports to:

Business Manager - EML North America

We are looking for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Unit Manager to join our Emergency Lighting team and lead our Dorval, QC operations.

Reporting to the business line lead of North America, you will Lead the Operations function at Regional level, defining the operating model along the entire value chain, including HSE, production, production engineering, planning and fulfillment, procurement, logistic, quality, continuous improvement, project execution, and information system architecture in Operations. You will have 8 direct reports and 130 indirect reports in total.

This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Buildings division of ABB Canada and is in Dorval.

The work model is hybrid, with 4 days per week at the office.

Responsibilities

  • Set and drive regional strategy in all the Operations areas, including target setting for the entire value chain: Safety, Quality, Inventory, Delivery performances, Productivity, Project execution.
  • Identify relevant tools and processes defining manufacturing standards and state-of-the-art technologies to be implemented in each factory and/or distribution centers.
  • Design the Operational footprint strategy in accordance with Product Team requirements and in collaboration with local stakeholders in the execution.
  • Establish and maintain a continuous improvement (CI) culture focusing on Customer by deploying a set of CI competencies, and creating transparency to monitor progress, within the area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with R&D to design product for advanced manufacturability.
  • Responsible to implement and sponsor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and all other business compliance standards and regulations across all functions of the business. Ensure a safe work environment and continuous improvement in HSE processes and integrity performance.
  • Responsible for Quality assurance, Quality control and for the implementation of an integrated quality management system across the organization.
  • Ensure operations functions are properly organized, staffed and directed. Accountable to build an effective, capable and high-performing organization. Responsible to develop talent, review organizational effectiveness, driving competence assessments and continuous skill-upgrades.
  • Responsible to define the most advanced manufacturing technologies for the overseen organization, including digital technologies.
  • Accountable to deliver COGS savings for the global organization, to define and deliver the annual budgets for CapEx and OpEx expenses and to establish management process which effectively balance installed-capacity with customer-demand and workload.

Requirements

  • College or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or relevant field
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role
  • English & French speaking and writing. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside Quebec.
  • Demonstrable experience managing local or regional operations
  • Strong analytical skills, data-driven thinking, well-organized and detail oriented
  • Collaborative, solution-focused approach, strong communication skills
