Job description

Position Overview
  • Department: Same Day Surgery, Unit Assistant + Patient Care Technician
  • Schedule: M-F, 7:30 am -3:00 pm, no call, no weekends, no holidays
  • Work Location: UAB ST Vincent's Blount

What You Will Do

Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.

  • Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
  • Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
  • Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
