Job Title: Claims Adjusters – Liability (Remote)

Work Location: Remote

Expected Duration: 3+ Months Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Commercial General Liability (CGL) Claims Adjusters to independently manage complex liability claims from investigation through resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling commercial general liability claims, making coverage determinations, managing litigation, and negotiating settlements while ensuring exceptional client service and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Claims Investigation & Management

  • Independently manage a full caseload of Commercial General Liability (CGL) claims.
  • Investigate claims involving:
    • Premises Liability
    • Slip & Fall
    • Product Liability
    • Construction Defect & Construction-Related Losses
    • Contractual Liability
  • Develop strategic claim action plans and maintain timely diary management.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive claim documentation.

Coverage Analysis

  • Interpret and analyze commercial insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage provisions.
  • Determine coverage applicability based on policy language.
  • Prepare Reservation of Rights, Coverage Position, and Denial letters in compliance with applicable regulations.

Liability & Damage Evaluation

  • Conduct thorough liability investigations by reviewing:
    • Incident reports
    • Contracts and lease agreements
    • Indemnification provisions
    • Recorded statements
    • Expert reports
    • Medical records and billing
    • Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs)
  • Evaluate injury exposure and establish appropriate claim reserves.

Litigation Management

  • Manage litigated claims by coordinating with defense counsel.
  • Review litigation strategy, budgets, pleadings, discovery, and motions.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and trial preparation.

Settlement Negotiation

  • Negotiate settlements within delegated authority.
  • Evaluate settlement values based on liability, damages, venue, and litigation risk.
  • Escalate claims requiring higher settlement authority when appropriate.

Risk Transfer & Recovery

  • Identify and pursue recovery opportunities through:
    • Additional Insured Tenders
    • Contractual Indemnity
    • Subrogation
  • Coordinate with carriers, attorneys, and third parties to maximize recoveries.

Client Communication

  • Maintain proactive communication with insureds, claimants, brokers, attorneys, and clients.
  • Provide timely claim updates, large loss reports, and client-specific status reports.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain complete and audit-ready claim files.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, client requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Participate in audits, file reviews, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of Commercial General Liability (CGL) claims handling experience.
  • Strong experience handling complex commercial liability claims with independent coverage decision-making.
  • Experience managing litigated claims from inception through resolution.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy interpretation, liability investigation, and settlement negotiations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Required Licenses

  • Active Texas (TX) and Florida (FL) Adjuster Licenses with reciprocal licensing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active New York (NY) and Arizona (AZ) Adjuster Licenses.
  • Professional designations such as AIC (Associate in Claims) and/or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
  • Experience handling high-exposure Commercial General Liability claims involving construction, contractual liability, and product liability.
