Job Title: Safety Manager

Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that workplace environments are compliant with health and safety regulations and standards, while safeguarding employees, contractors, and visitors. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and programs, conducting safety inspections, and training staff to minimize accidents and incidents in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across various areas of multiple facilities to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Monitor and analyze workplace accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees to ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to identify areas of improvement in safety practices and address safety concerns.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate safety equipment and protective gear in the workplace.
  • Maintain records of safety training, inspections, accident reports, and other relevant documentation. Keep and maintain a 52-compliance calendar.
  • Prepare safety reports and provide recommendations for enhancing workplace safety to senior management.
  • Stay updated with new regulations and industry best practices, ensuring continuous improvement in safety programs.
  • Coordinate and lead emergency response drills, such as fire, evacuation, and first aid training.
  • Conduct risk assessments and suggest measures to reduce potential hazards in work processes.
  • Foster a safety culture through clear communication and proactive safety initiatives.
  • May be required to handle physical aspects of the job and may need to help in departments outside of the safety role.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental laws.
  • Proven experience in a safety management role, ideally in an industry like construction or manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and influence others on safety issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other safety management software tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Safety Management (e.g., OSHA, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with construction and concrete form safety training.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position located in KCK, with no job site travel. The work environment is similar to a construction site and can be physically demanding. The candidate should have the ability to pick up 50 lbs and may work over 50 hours per week. Frequent onsite presence is required to oversee safety practices and engage with employees. The Safety Manager will be overseeing safety standards for the casting of concrete forms for unique construction projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
