The Cleaning Rack Operator is an entrylevel position responsible for safely cleaning, testing, and preparing rail tank car interiors by operating cleaning and monitoring equipment, with comprehensive onthejob training, while following confinedspace, environmental, safety, and quality regulations in an industrial outdoor setting. Duties may vary, and employees may be asked to perform additional job functions as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Review cleaning and testing procedures prior to performing assigned work and before entering tank cars

  • Learn, follow, andcomply withconfined space entry procedures and all applicable safety policies

  • Verify calibration of testing equipment to ensureaccuratereadings, including LEL meters, oxygen content meters, pH meters, and Draeger meters

  • Connect andoperatehighpressure air, steam, and water hoses, along with cleaning rack equipment

  • Perform manual cleaning of tank interiors asrequired

  • Operate andmonitortesting equipment throughout the cleaning process

  • Ensure cleaning procedures and equipmentcomply withcompany standards and EPA regulations

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and promptly report potential safety hazards

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diplomaor equivalent,or ability to passa Combined Basic Skills Assessment Test

  • Demonstratedjobrelated computational skills and ability to read gauges, rulers, and applicable measuringdevices

  • Abilityto work effectivelyand efficientlyboth independentlyand as part of a team

  • Abilityto follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision

  • Ability to read,interpret, and adhere tosafety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, andother work-relateddocumentation

WorkEnvironment & Schedule:

  • Work is performedin an industrial railcar repair environmentinvolvesregular exposure to challenging physicallydemandingand environmental conditions.

  • Duties may be performed outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, heat, and noise is common

  • Job requires moderate to heavy physical exertion, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and working in confined spaces

  • Must be able to enter tank cars through 20inch manway openings

  • Manual dexterity and physical coordinationrequiredfor tool and equipment operation

  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials due to leaks or spills

  • Mustcomply withall required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols

  • On-site work arrangement: 5 days a week, with overtime asrequired.
