Position Overview:
This is a entry level position and may be combined with a State of California recognized training program and is intended to train individual to become an Engineer.
An employee in this position works in conjuntion with, or under the supervision of, a Stationary Engineer or the Chief Engineer performing a variety of skilled work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment and other related work as required. An employee developes through training program and then operates, maintains, and repairs equipment including vessel boiler, electrical, air-conditioning refrigeration, plumbing, as well as a working knowledge of all other skill areas.
Must be available to attend classroom training outside of scheduled work hours.
This position assesses, evaluates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs various life safety and non-safety, and non-life safety mechanical and electrical systems and equipment that support a health care environment.
Job Description:
EDUCATION
  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
  • DL-Valid Drivers License

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
  • Entry level position. Experience in building / equipment repair and maintenance preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Employee must be able to read, write, and speak the English Language.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits complete knowledge of the system, theory and procedures for repair and maintenance in one of the following areas: electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration, pressure vessel boiler, plumbing and carpentry

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of electrical theory and procedures for repairing and maintaining the system.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating control systems, including air balance and system calibration procedures for repair and maintenance.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and procedures for repair and maintenance.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of procedures, materials and tools used in commercial building remodels and cabinet construction.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of uniform electrical and building codes.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building and mechanical trades.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits through knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials used in the building trades.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits ability to inspect systems and buildings to detect existing or potential problems.

  • Develops through training program and then exhibits ability to read and understand blueprints.
