Position Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Union Pipelayer to join our Utility Pipe Crew in our highway heavy construction operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience installing underground utilities, including storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer systems. This position requires expertise in pipe installation, trench safety, grading, and working efficiently as part of a crew in fast-paced, high-production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install various types of underground utility pipes (storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer) according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Excavate, grade, and prepare trenches while ensuring proper slope and alignment.
  • Set, align, and seal pipes using appropriate materials and techniques.
  • Work safely around heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and trench boxes.
  • Check slopes, elevations, and pipe grades using lasers, levels, and measuring tools.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines to maintain a safe job site.
  • Collaborate with foremen, operators, and laborers to ensure efficient installation and workflow.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used for pipe laying.
  • Assist in backfilling, compacting, and restoring work areas as required.

Position Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a pipelayer in utility or highway heavy construction.
  • Strong understanding of pipe materials, bedding, and installation methods.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, grades, and specifications.
  • Experience with setting trench boxes, shoring, and other safety measures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be a union member in good standing or willing to join as per company and union requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification (preferred but not required).
