Position Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating machinery such as excavators, skid steers, and loaders to support construction, demolition, and concrete removal projects. This role involves equipment maintenance, material handling, and working closely with field crews to ensure job site efficiency and safety. This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the OE 12 union. Will be required to join the union and maintain membership in good standing. Current OE 12 members welcome to apply. Pay rate is union scale.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, front-end loaders, skid steers, and related machinery.
  • Load dump trucks with broken concrete using appropriate equipment.
  • Break concrete using an excavator with hydraulic breaker attachments.
  • Operate machinery in support of building, bridge, and highway construction or demolition.
  • Inspect, fuel, and maintain equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch and job site supervisors regarding tasks and updates.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist team members and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrain types.
