About this opportunity:

Cenovus Toledo Refinery is now hiring for a Manager, Area Maintenance role that will serve as the single point of accountability for maintenance within their assigned asset area.

What you'll do:

  • Leads execution of planned and unplanned unit shutdowns executed by the Maintenance team, including support of timely worklist, job plan and critical path schedule development, efficient completion of high-quality field execution, tracking and closeout activities

  • Single point of accountability to the asset for Maintenance in assigned asset area

  • Assures annual maintenance budget is transparent to the asset team and properly managed and maintained and is responsible for minimizing spend for maintenance in asset area by efficiencies, ensuring maintenance and expense projects are completed efficiently and correctly the first time

  • Facilitates multi-bid efforts from outside contractors for larger scopes that are unable to be scheduled within the normal running maintenance headcount, or when additional skills are required, collaborating with the Maintenance Discipline Managers to ensure the capabilities and risks are evaluated and managed

  • Drives proactive maintenance in assigned area, including backlog management, processes for work prioritization, schedule break-ins, overtime, materials management, risk assessment, craft utilization, quality, work history documentation, change management, future recommendations and long-term Reliability. Backlog management includes understanding risk carried by the current backlog hours and ensuring backlog reviews are proactively completed to remove completed work

  • Accountable for driving Maintenance execution of the reliability equipment strategy that supports the refinery's goals in availability, as well as safe, reliable, and environmentally sound operations. This role is also responsible identifying improvements to the reliability strategies and implementing execution optimizations

  • Assures and optimizes Maintenance execution practices and procedures to achieve cost-effective results, including efficient scheduling of resources, feedback to craft supervisors for proper training and performance of Craft personnel, and high-quality execution of work with a focus on Safety and Availability

  • Responsible for the health, safety, and environmental performance and awareness in areas of responsibility to achieve the refinery goals of zero incidents, i.e. no accidents, no harm to people, and no harm to the environment. Participates in refinery safety programs, investigate accidents and near-misses, prepares and conducts safety meetings. Promotes a clean, safe work site and ensures proper housekeeping

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or a Journeyman's License

  • 12+ years experience in relevant maintenance execution and engineering activities

  • Background in maintenance and/or capital project execution, contractor relations, and exposure to plant/refinery operation. Breadth of experience including some commercial, project, turnaround, or similar non-technical experience

  • Ability to understand the Union-Company Collective Bargaining Agreement and make decisions

  • Maintenance and Repair working knowledge preferred in multiple maintenance department disciplines
