Role: Java Developer/Architect (Data)

Location: Schaumburg, IL

Job Description:

Must Have:

        Ten or more years of hands-on experience in a software development profession

        Experience with High-Performance GRID Computing platforms

        Proficiency working in a Linux-based environment, including shell scripting and basic system administration

        Proficiency in technologies that include Java, Python or C or C++

        Experience in implementing and consuming Web Service technologies/APIs(SOAP, REST, JSON).

        Experience in Hibernate, Spring (boot, core, aop, mvc, orm) , Struts and related framework/technologies

        Good understanding of design patterns (Singleton, Factory, Adapter, Decorator, Command, MVC etc)

        Experience with Relational Databases (DB2, Oracle) and SQL programming

        Experience in scheduling using AutoSys, Crontab

        Experience working on a team operating under an Agile Scrum delivery methodology

        Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide alternative solutions to technical problems

        Strong written and verbal communication skills

        Possess strong leadership skills and a self-starter

        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or equivalent experience

Nice to Have:

        Exposure to ETL, Data warehousing, Oracle, Teradata and DB2

        Experience in Oracle database programming and performance tuning

        In-depth understanding and prior work experience in finance industry is a plus

        Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms

        Deep expertise in creating Big Data stores with special consideration to efficient storage, partitioning strategies, storage formats etc.

        Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture to multiple groups in the company

        Should be able to provided scalable and robust solution architecture depending on the needs

        Should be able to compare tools and technologies and recommend a tool or technology

        Must have experience of executing couple of data projects (end to end)

        Strong technical expertise and hands on experience on Hive, Flume, HBase & other Hadoop components

        Candidate must have strong background & hands on experience of SPARK or JAVA or Data warehouse / ETL/BI or DWH appliances

        Must have strong customer service skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

        Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

        Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment stay motivated and flexible.

        Ability to work cross functionally to deliver appropriate resolution of technical, procedural, and operational issues.

        Knowledge of MapR echo system

        Good knowledge of NoSQL Databases preferably MapR DB

        Very good understanding of in-memory databases and distributed databases

        Thoroughly understanding of how to handle real time data integration/Real-time data technologies (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka)

        Good understanding of security aspects including Kerberos, Sentry etc.

        Good experience with databases and SQL

        Good experience with at least one programming language like Scala, Java, Python, Pig etc.
