Job description

Overview

Navy Federal Credit Union currently does not provide sponsorship for this role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
Seeking a qualified candidate to design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and systems for the collection, connection, and storage of data for various business areas within Lending. In this role, you will work closely with business partners and team members to implement data processing tasks, ensure data quality, and maintain system reliability while gaining a strong understanding of business needs and objectives.

This position is ideal for a developing professional with a foundational skill set who is ready to take on increasing scope and complexity while solving a range of mostly straightforward problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows to support business and data initiatives
  • Design and build scalable data pipelines for data collection, integration, and storage
  • Develop scripts, stored procedures, and jobs to automate data loads and processes
  • Implement data processing tasks and ensure data integrity and reliability
  • Optimize existing data workflows for performance and efficiency
  • Ensure data quality and performance at scale across data platforms
  • Maintain high availability, scalability, and reliability of data systems
  • Apply query optimization techniques including execution plan analysis, indexing, and partitioning
  • Collaborate with team members and business units on projects and data initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of data engineering standards, policies, and best practices
  • Support data governance, metadata management, and data quality initiatives
  • Assist with database administration activities, including upgrades and migrations
  • Support reporting and analytics use cases, including Power BI development
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement and delivery planning
  • Continuously improve processes and identify opportunities for automation and optimization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Strong experience with SQL, xml/JSON, SSIS, Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks) and PySpark
  • Strong Experience with data integration, data processing tools, and ETL frameworks
  • Experience developing scripts, stored procedures, and automation jobs
  • Experience with query optimization, execution plans, indexing, and partitioning
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data system design
  • Working knowledge of data engineering principles, technologies, and architectures
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO) backlogs and Agile delivery (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban)
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server administration and database upgrades/migrations
  • Basic knowledge of Power BI reporting and data visualization
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
