Summary:
The Substitute Custodian provides services as an employee of STAFFEZ, serving the district as part of the custodial team to ensure clean, sanitary, safe, and well-maintained school facilities.
Work Hours & Compensation:
  • $10.00 - $15.00 per hour based on experience.
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position):
  • Perform all cleaning and sanitizing in accordance with the district’s Custodial Services Handbook and District requirements.
  • Use custodial chemicals and supplies in accordance with the district’s Custodial Services Handbook and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintain proper care and disposal of all trash and recyclables and adhere to energy and recycling program requirements.
  • Perform general cleaning and sanitizing of facilities to include, but not limited to, floors, carpets, classrooms, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, shower and locker rooms, auditorium, toilet rooms, drinking fountains, and all related areas, as well as cleaning up after accidents and/or illnesses in accordance with District procedures.
  • Unlock and secure facilities.
  • Report and correct safety, custodial, maintenance, and vandalism needs.
  • Restock and maintain supplies in all restrooms.
  • Maintain clean working equipment and supplies sufficient for the job.
  • Police facility grounds.
  • Respond to non-routine work requests.
  • Inform the administration and Head Custodian or Plant Maintenance of repairs requiring work orders.
  • Replace light bulbs, as needed. This will require the use of ladders.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of air conditioner filters, return air grilles, and vents.
  • Perform minor repairs and touch-up painting.
  • Move and assemble furniture and equipment.
  • Represent the District and STAFFEZ in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way.
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education requirements for position - High School NOT REQUIRED.
  • Experience in custodial work or equivalence preferred.
  • Physical requirements.
  • Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules.
  • Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  • Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint).

Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
