Chemistry Technician - Contractor

Zeno is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Technician to support the efforts of developing and bringing to market Radioisotope Power System (RPS) technologies. In this role you will:

  • Perform daily experiments under direction of Project Lead Chemist.
  • Assist with documenting experimental procedures, hazards assessments, and results.
  • Assist with literature searches and technical documentation.
  • Prepare bulk solutions and in-house chemicals.
  • Prepare calibration standard solutions and samples for instrumental analyses.
  • Stock and monitor laboratory supplies.
  • Assist and support the Hardware lab and the Chemistry lab.
  • Support EH&S to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Help manage and facilitate chemical waste collection.
  • Assist with instrument and equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Support Zeno Power Systems Safety Culture.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate's degree or higher in Chemistry or equivalent from accredited university
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience in disciplines related to analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and materials science
  • Experience working with radioactive materials is a plus
  • Ability to communicate across disciplines.
  • Ability to present data to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure in an uncertain environment.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to coordinate and lead efforts with minimal direction.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Must have excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.

Job Functions

  • Position requires in-office presence in Seattle (South Lake Union) Monday-Friday.
  • Travel: Travel may be required, <10%
  • Motor Abilities: Sitting/standing for extended periods, gripping, fine motor control (hands)
  • Physical requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated pay band for this position is $30-$45/hr. The final job level and compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, and other business considerations.
