Job Title: Symitar Programmer 

Salary:$100 - $150K+/yr

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Programmer to develop and maintain applications and integrations that support our core banking operations. The role focuses on authoring PowerOn scripts and working with the Symitar core platform, building and maintaining API integrations, and creating simple web interfaces. The successful candidate will troubleshoot production issues, implement enhancements, and collaborate with business stakeholders and operations to deliver reliable, secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Author, test, and maintain PowerOn scripts and custom logic within the Symitar core platform to support business processes and reporting.
  • Design, develop, and maintain API integrations (REST/SOAP) between Symitar and third-party systems, ensuring data integrity and secure transmission.
  • Build and maintain lightweight web interfaces and templates using HTML and CSS for internal tools, service portals, and reporting dashboards.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production incidents and application defects; apply fixes and document root causes and remediation steps.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and operations teams to gather requirements, propose technical solutions, and estimate work.
  • Write and maintain clear technical documentation, including design specs, runbooks, and deployment instructions.
  • Follow secure coding practices, perform unit and integration testing, and participate in code reviews and change control processes.
  • Support deployment activities, release coordination, and post-deployment verification in development, test, and production environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of programming experience; prior experience working with Symitar and PowerOn scripting strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing API integrations (RESTful and/or SOAP) and working with JSON and XML.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML and CSS to create and maintain simple web interfaces and templates.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases for querying and reporting; experience writing and optimizing queries.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic CI/CD practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to producing reliable code.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience in financial services or credit unions is a plus; professional certifications related to Symitar or API development are a bonus.
