Computer science professionals in unionized settings often face unique challenges such as balancing organizational technology goals with collectively bargained work agreements and navigating structured processes for workflow changes or new initiatives. Adhering to union regulations can add extra layers of documentation and collaboration, especially when implementing new systems or managing cross-team projects. However, these environments also offer clear protocols for conflict resolution, opportunities for professional development, and strong support systems. Successfully adapting to these dynamics not only enhances project outcomes but also supports a positive and equitable work culture.
A Union Computer Science job refers to a position in the tech industry that falls under a labor union, meaning employees have collective bargaining rights for fair wages, benefits, and working conditions. These jobs can exist in various sectors, including government, education, and private industries where unions are established. Workers in these roles may benefit from job security, standardized pay scales, and grievance procedures. Unionization in computer science helps ensure fair treatment and advocate for workers' rights in an ever-evolving industry.
To excel in a Union Computer Science role, you need a solid background in computer science principles, programming languages, and an understanding of unionized workplace practices, usually demonstrated with a computer science degree or related experience. Familiarity with project management tools, collaborative platforms like Git, and relevant certifications such as CompTIA or Microsoft certifications is highly valued. Strong communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills are critical, especially when coordinating with both technical teams and union representatives. These skills are vital for efficiently developing technology solutions that align with union standards and foster collaborative, equitable environments.

Truliant's mission is to improve lives by putting our members first, providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. Our core values of Member Focus, Service, Guidance, Relationships, and Community define how we interact with members to fulfill our mission of improving lives and providing a foundation on which we conduct ourselves.
Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do.
Why this role matters
At Truliant Federal Credit Union, operational resilience helps protect the people, systems, and services our members and teammates count on every day. In this role, you'll lead the work that keeps critical business operations prepared, responsive, and ready to recover when the unexpected happens. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong programs, partnering across the organization, and turning complex risk and continuity needs into practical, sustainable solutions.
What you'll do
In this role, you'll own Truliant's enterprise-wide business continuity program and help ensure our teams are prepared before, during, and after a disruption. You'll work closely with leaders across business units, IT, vendor partners, and senior leadership to strengthen recovery planning, test readiness, support audits, and continuously mature the program.
Day to day, you'll:
Lead business continuity planning, documentation, testing, Business Impact Analysis activities, risk assessments, reporting, and program improvements across the organization.
Partner with business units, IT, vendors, and leadership to align business continuity, disaster recovery, incident response, and crisis management efforts.
Support regulatory and internal audit readiness, committee updates, Board-level reporting, training, and response activities when business disruptions or weather events occur.
Beyond the core program work, you'll serve as a trusted subject matter expert who helps teams understand their role in continuity planning and makes resilience part of how Truliant operates.
What you bring
We're looking for a proven business continuity professional who can think strategically, execute tactically, and build trust with partners at every level of the organization. You'll be successful here if you can bring structure to complex situations, communicate clearly under pressure, and keep the work moving with a strong sense of ownership.
This role is a great fit if you have:
Required Experience:
3+ years of progressive leadership experience in business continuity planning and program management.
3+ years of experience in business resumption planning, crisis management planning, incident response planning, disaster recovery planning, plan testing, and conducting Business Impact Analysis activities.
3+ years of experience managing and coordinating response to a major, unplanned event requiring activation of business continuity and crisis management plans.
3+ years of experience preparing for and responding to regulatory and internal audits.
Required Skills:
Ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to connect risk, controls, recovery needs, and business priorities.
Knowledge of DRII Professional Practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to business continuity in banking or credit unions.
Ability to develop, maintain, test, and improve enterprise business continuity plans, including tabletop exercises, functional exercises, drills, and documentation updates.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with business units, senior leadership, committees, auditors, and the Board.
Ability to build positive relationships across multiple lines of business and manage competing priorities with minimal oversight.
Technical competence with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, as well as business continuity planning software.
Ability to travel to Truliant locations as needed in response to significant business continuity-related incidents.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience required.
Certified Business Continuity Professional, Master Business Continuity Professional, or similar business continuity certification required.
You should also be comfortable leading through ambiguity, supporting response teams outside of normal business hours when needed, and helping both technical and non-technical partners turn continuity requirements into clear action.
What sets you apart
You don't need to check every box, but here's what will help you thrive in this role:
Previous experience in the financial services industry.
Banking or credit union experience, especially in a highly regulated environment.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent advanced experience.
Experience managing business continuity software, emergency communications software, relocation site planning, or continuity-related vendor relationships.
Experience presenting continuity program updates, risk trends, testing outcomes, or audit responses to executive leadership or a Board of Directors.
What you'll get
We believe in supporting our team members both professionally and personally.
In this role, you can expect:
Purpose-driven work that directly supports Truliant's ability to serve members, protect operations, and respond with confidence when disruptions occur.
Visibility and partnership across the organization, including collaboration with business leaders, IT, risk partners, vendors, committees, and executive stakeholders.
Opportunities to shape and mature an enterprise-wide resilience program with measurable impact, continuous improvement, and meaningful ownership.
A culture rooted in service, collaboration, and care for both our members and the teammates who support them.
Professional growth through industry research, program development, audit readiness, incident response planning, and exposure to enterprise risk and operational leadership priorities.
